Course details

The course is designed to give students a thorough understanding of both the conceptual and applied aspects of accounting. Graduates complete the course with specialised knowledge of accounting subjects together with a wide appreciation of business issues as reflected by the core modules in the syllabus.

Career and progression opportunities

Accountancy Studies offers the opportunity of gaining a prestigious accounting degree whilst simultaneously part-qualifying for the ACCA. It offers the opportunity of gaining exemptions up to the final paper of ACCA Fundamentals Skills. The final year of the degree also prepares students for the examinations of the ACCA's Professional Essentials (exams to be taken externally with the ACCA).

Entry requirements

  • A-levels: BBC (typically translates to 280 points in the UCAS tariff). Applicants with only 2 full A-levels or a double award will be considered on an individual basis. Excludes General Studies.
  • ND/C (Level 3): DMM.
  • International Baccalaureate: 30 points including 16 at Higher level.
  • QAA-approved access course: acceptable, subject-specific units.
  • GCSE (minimum grade C): at least 3 subjects including English language and mathematics or a science.
  • Foundation degree/HND: direct entry to year 2 may be possible with relevant subjects.
  • Other: Entry to Level 2 completion or exemption from ACCA Fundamentals Knowledge stage Entry to Level 3 completion or exemption from ACCA Fundamentals Skills stage.
