About the programme

The programme is designed to deliver financial expertise with particular emphasis in understanding the discipline of accounting and finance. Both theoretical foundations and practical applications are provided in each of these areas. The programme is structured so that students specialise through courses with choices including empirical finance, corporate finance, financial ethics, etc.

The programme is similar to the structure of the existing MA Honours in Business Studies and Accounting but is a specialist degree. It is a comprehensive and rigorous treatment of key areas in Accounting and Finance and it is designed for graduates interested in following a career with accounting firms, regulatory bodies requiring an in depth understanding of accounting and finance investment and security analysis, corporate finance and corporate restructuring accounting and finance within public sector.

Entry requirements

Academic requirements

All applicants, regardless of the programme applied for, must have a strong academic record and must have achieved, or be predicted to achieve, the academic qualifications required to meet any specific requirements for the degree programme.

English language requirements

  • SQA Standard Grade 3 or better.
  • Grade A at Intermediate 1 or Grade C at Intermediate 2, or GCSE Grade C or better.
  • IELTS: Overall 6.5 with 5.5 in each component (IELTS academic module).
  • TOEFL: 580 (paper-based)
  • TOEFL Internet-based test: 92 or above with minimum 23 in reading, listening, speaking and writing
  • IGCSE: C
  • Cambridge ESOL (CAE): A
  • Cambridge ESOL (CPE): C
