The programme is a comprehensive and intensive investigation into key areas in accounting and finance. Designed for those with a quantitative background, it is both academically rigorous and closely in line with professional practice.
Studying accounting and finance in Edinburgh gives students the opportunity to base themselves at the heart of the UK’s second largest financial centre.
The taught component of the programme consists of eight courses in total, four in the first semester and four in the second semester. These are the foundation upon which the whole MSc is built and ensures a common basis of knowledge across the different areas.
Graduates from the MSc in Accounting and Finance will typically pursue a career in the accounting profession, in academic accounting, investment and security analysis, portfolio management, corporate finance and corporate restructuring, or in regulating bodies requiring an in-depth understanding of accounting and finance.
The programme is as much academic as it is vocational. That means it is also good preparation for further research at PhD level.
