The programme intends to
- qualify students to contribute to a sustainable development of agricultural sites under a specific frame of organic agriculture
- to develop site-specific solutions with the minimal use of non-renewable resources for the sustainable protection of food for a rapidly expanding world population and
- to make a socially responsible contribution to agriculture and land use.
The course is geared especially towards foreign and German students with a special interest in agriculture in tropical and subtropical climate zones, as well as in international agriculture. The main thematic fields are: ecology and applied methods (soil and water, agro-biodiversity and plant nutrition), crop science (soil and plant science, organic farming under temperate and (sub) tropical conditions), animal sciences (organic livestock farming and animal interactions), and economics and social sciences (development policies, changing societies and intercultural management) and various obligatory modules.
