The MA in Ceramic and Lithic Analysis for Archaeologists is designed to provide a thorough grounding in the recording, analysis and interpretation of pottery and worked stone (not chipped stone).
Pottery and worked stone artefacts form two of the largest groups of finds recovered from archaeological excavations and surveys of all periods across the world. Their proper study can provide information about a wide range of different aspects of past societies.
Core modules: Ceramic and lithic projects for archaeologists; Principles of ceramic and lithic archaeology; Research skills.
Two optional modules from: Archaeological petrology; Ceramics and lithics in context; another School of Humanities or Winchester School of Art MA module
Plus: Dissertation (15,000 words)
Entry requirements
At least an upper 2nd class degree in archaeology, anthropology, geology, or related discipline.
