This course will provide prospective students with the opportunity to pursue particular issues in interior spatial design or specialist areas of 3-D design that require concise and focused study. It will also embrace the latest computer imaging techniques within a programme tailored to suit individual needs and interests.
The course will concentrate on developing a comprehensive understanding of the physical and ambient qualities of interior space within the architectural context. How context is defined will be infinitely variable upon the ’host’ and the area of study. A variety of different project-based problems will consider, for example: the dialogue of intervention; the significance of ‘applied’ interior design; the semiotics of architectural graphics; the sensory and psychological illusion of interior spaces.
Implicitly the course will also consider the effects of cultural, social and historical shifts that shape he changing significance of interior design as a distinct discipline within architecture.
