Course details

Sculpture at Brighton positions itself at the centre of the contemporary fine art debate. Work ranges from the core approaches to materials, space and form to the wider fields of installation, performance, video, photographic work and 3D manipulation through computer technology.

You will work with real materials and will also extend your imagination into cyberspace and virtual realities. On this course you will study a single discipline - sculpture - but also benefit from being part of their community of fine artists.

Career and progression opportunities

Many graduates are successful in exhibiting nationally and internationally and obtaining commissions and residencies. They benefit from close contact with artists, galleries and arts organisation. Some take up arts related activities such as teaching, curating, or arts administration to support their practice. Most become both part-time employed and freelance self-employed. Others go on to masters and research degrees both in the UK and abroad.

Entry requirements

• A-levels: will not normally provide sufficient grounding without a subsequent foundation diploma.
• ND/C (Level 3): DMM.
• International Baccalaureate: will not normally provide sufficient grounding without a subsequent foundation diploma.
• QAA-approved access course: acceptable; subject specific units.
• GCSE (minimum grade C): a good profile.
• For non-native speakers of English: IELTS 6.0 overall, 6.0 in writing.
• Other: Art and Design Foundation Diploma.
