Course details

Brighton's Automotive Engineering programme provides a broad foundation in mechanical engineering alongside opportunities to develop the specialist knowledge required for professional success as an automotive engine design engineer. The MEng route further extends your technical understanding whilst developing management expertise and knowledge of business processes.

Career and progression opportunities

Graduates are equipped with the creative and technical skills required for a successful career in automotive engine and power train design. After satisfactory completion students may go on to further study at MSc or PhD level within the school or elsewhere.

Entry requirements

  • A-levels: BBC (280 points in the UCAS tariff). Must include mathematics and a science. Applicants with 2 full A-levels or a double award considered individual basis. General Studies included.
  • ND/C (Level 3): DMM.
  • International Baccalaureate: 30 points, specified subjects including maths and a science at Higher level.
  • QAA-approved access course: individual assessment.
  • GCSE (minimum grade C): at least 5 subjects including English language, mathematics and a physical science.
  • Foundation degree/HNDdirect to year 2 for suitable applicants.
  • For non-native speakers of English: IELTS 6.0 overall, 6.0 in writing.
