About the programme
The Master's course in Chemical and Bioengineering spans the range from the classical physical and chemical processes for material conversion to the increasingly important biological processes. Knowledge from the fields of chemistry, physics, biology, mathematics and engineering sciences is brought together to apply processes developed on the laboratory scale and adapt them for production on an industrial scale. The student can focus his or her programme on chemical or biological applications or on process technology and choose from a broad range of subjects. Design experience is gained in a group project for all students in the course.
Admission requirments
There are several basic requirements for admission to the MSc programmes in the Department of Chemical and Bioengineering:
- An engineering degree wíth outstanding grades at the Bachelor level (BSc, BEng, BTech, duration four years) from a university with a high international ranking. An engineering background is essential – first degree studies in natural sciences are not acceptable.
- For the MSc programme “Chemical and Bioengineering” a first degree in chemical engineering or exceptionally in biotechnology.
- For the MSc programme “Life Science Engineering” a Bachelor degree in engineering with specialisation in life science, pharmacy or biotechnology.
- A good command of German and / or English. Schooling and university studies in English are normally acceptable as evidence of English ability but results of the TOEFL or IELTS test should be submitted, if available.
- A good background in mathematics and other engineering subjects.
