The Wellcome Trust/Cancer Research UK Institute opened in 1991 for research into the cell and molecular biology of cancer and developmental processes. The Institute contains 16 independent groups funded by either The Wellcome Trust or Cancer Research UK, all located in one building designed to promote as much interaction as possible.
