This course is designed to provide an insight into aspects of the drug discovery and development process, by looking at a number of diseases including cardiovascular, neuro and respiratory pathologies. It will provide an opportunity to study the principles of pharmacology, bioinformatics and toxicology for the development of novel therapeutics for their management.
This course explores fundamental subjects that are central to drug discovery and development. It also provides flexibility, enabling you to acquire specialist knowledge through the selection of option modules in the areas of biotechnology and business, antimicrobial chemotherapy and molecular therapeutics.

The course is aimed at those aspiring to be researchers within university research laboratories and/or the pharmaceutical industry. During the course you will develop a range of transferable skills that may be used to enhance your employment prospects and/ or further your research opportunities in the UK or overseas. Each year it is anticipated that the student intake for this course will be UK home and International students with experience in physiology and pharmacology or biomedical sciences.
