About the programme

The Master's programme in Business Informatics combines theory, methods and techniques of the business and organisational domain within the area of information and computer science. This integrative and multidisciplinary Master's programme is oriented towards the current needs of researchers, consultants, managers and entrepreneurs in the field of ICT.

Entrance Requirements

Applicants should possess:

  • basic knowledge in the field of information and computing sciences (including programming languages, data models, exchange languages and object-oriented modelling)
  • basic knowledge of research methods
  • basic knowledge of organization science
  • the ability to communicate facts and findings verbally and in writing, also using information and communication technology and audio-visual means.

Applicants are therefore expected to hold one of the following degrees:

  • a BSc in Information Science
  • a BSc in Computer Science
  • a BSc in other Science (with specific prerequisites)
  • a professional Bachelor in ICT, or a HBO or HIO diploma.

Proof of profiency in English

All other applicants, including applicants who hold a Dutch HBO diploma (diploma of higher professional education), must provide proof of proficiency in English. To do so, you are required to take one of the following English language tests:

  • IELTS, Academic Module. Minimum score: 6.5 overall band, at least 6 for writing. IELTS is the test preferred by Utrecht University.
  • TOEFL, Internet based. Minimum score: 93. Institutional scores are not accepted. The TOEFL institution code for Utrecht University is 9062.
  • Cambridge Certificates
    • Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English at least a B grade.
    • Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English at least a C grade.
