About the programme

The Master of Science in Business Studies trains students to analyse organisational issues and produce appropriate solutions. Business Studies focuses on a multidisciplinary approach.

The Faculty of Economics and Business gives students the broad range of skills, knowledge and expertise they will need in the business world. Many lecturers in the MSc in Business Studies are researchers in the Finance Group at the Amsterdam Business School (ABS), one of Europe's top ten research-oriented finance departments. The Finance Group regularly hosts guest lectures on topics in Business Studies, given by visiting experts from all over the world.

Career prospects

Graduates are exceptionally well suited to positions in which business analysis and reflection are applied towards making strategic and operational contributions to the functioning, improvement and renewal of commercial and non-commercial organisations.

Entry requirements

Academic Bachelor degree

Applicants are required to hold an Academic Bachelor degree (BSc or BA) in Business Studies, Business Administration or Commerce. Quantitative courses like mathematics and/or statistics and research oriented courses must be included in the Bachelor's curriculum. In addition, applicants must also have attended business courses like strategic management and marketing.

English language proficiency

  • Minimum score TOEFL test: 95 (232 computer-based/580 paper-based test, reporting number 0398)
  • Minimum score IELTS-test: 6.5, at least 6 on each sub-score
  • Minimum score Cambridge International Examinations: A (FCE), A/B (CAE), B (CPE)
