This course deals with the growing internationalisation of the business world. Business studies within an international dimension; subjects incorporate cross-national perspectives, and comprehensive training in a a foreign language places strong emphasis on the day-to-day use of language in a business environment. You should reach a level of competence that permits you to deal with all aspects of business transactions.
The taught programme prepares you for a year's placement overseas including study in complementary business studies subjects at a recognised educational institution. This placement will take place in countries where Arabic, French, German, Mandarin Chinese, Russian or Spanish are spoken. You will choose one of these locations at the beginning of the course, thus determining the language you study. For your year abroad, we have partnership arrangements with a number of institutions including the Institut Supérieur de Commerce (Paris), the Université de Paris Dauphine, IPAG Nice (France), the Technische Universität (Berlin), Fachlochschule Wiesbaden (Germany), St Petersburg University (Russia) and five universities in Spain; we have also forged links with institutions in Argentina and the Peoples' Republic of China.
Assessments take place at the end of each semester and are based on course work and examinations, as well as the evaluation of your placement year. They emphasise group work and the development of presentational and communication skills, and encourage creativity and independent action.
