Course description

The Master of Enterprise (MEnt) degree is MEC's flagship programme at postgraduate level and is considered to be one of the most innovative courses in enterprise offered in the UK. Unique characteristics of the programme are its use of subject supervisors, enterprise supervisors and external mentors throughout the course, plus its highly resourced Business Creation Unit where students learn within an entrepreneurial community.

This unique postgraduate degree has been designed to train and support students in developing business ideas from postgraduate research. The MEnt degree enables students to develop their entrepreneurial skills and go on to either start their own business or work for a company where enterprise and innovation are valued.  The degree is a generic research degree, combining Masters level postgraduate research with teaching in the business skills and knowledge required to turn that research into viable new business propositions.

Course aims

The programme focuses on an enterprise project that is an exercise in knowledge transfer, combining research and development with commercial work, performed in the Centre's unique Business Creation Unit - a dedicated postgraduate enterprise workspace.

The project is supported by two compulsory enterprise units designed to provide an insight into entrepreneurial business processes and a theoretical framework for the development of the business. This is further complemented by two optional subject units which further the student's knowledge and understanding of their chosen academic field.
