About the programme
If you like new challenges, working in groups, applying your knowledge to real-world situations, manipulating graphics, sound, video, computer games on computers and showing your skills as a computer games designer, this programme is for you.
Programme structure
The Computer Games Technologies programme lasts either three years full time or four years in the case of the sandwich degree which includes the one-year work placement.
In the the first year , you will be introduced to the basics of
- computer graphics
- computer systems
- computer games theory
- project management
During the second year, you will focus on
- games programming
- virtual environment design
- multimedia hardware
In the final year, you will have the opportunity to investigate current issues in computer games design and development and to produce both a group-based and an individual project involving the development of computer games.
Admission requirments
- Typical offer is 200 UCAS tariff points (including two GCE or VCE A-levels or a VCE Double Award)
- Equivalent overseas qualifications
- Relevant Access programme
- Mature students, without appropriate academic qualifications but with relevant work experience, attend for interview and aptitude test.
Students may be admitted through Accreditation of Experiential Learning (AEL) or Accreditation of Certificated Learning (ACL) processes. In the case of applicants whose first language is not English, then IELTS 6.0 (or equivalent) is required. International qualifications will be checked for appropriate matriculation to UK Higher Education undergraduate programmes.
