About the programme

The accredited, internationally-oriented M.Sc. programmes in Computer Science and Applied Computer Science are two-year programmes that have been designed for highly qualified international and German graduate students. The programme in Computer Science is intended for students with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, whereas the programme in Applied Computer Science is meant for students with a Bachelor's degree in a closely related area (such as Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or Cognitive cience).

Both programmes have a very flexible curriculum. Students can compile their individual study plan based on their background and interest. Another advantage of this programme is the large variety of application areas offered (Bioinformatics, Microsystems Engineering, Cognitive Science, Economics, Mathematics, Physics, Psychology, Medicine). Furthermore all lectures are recorded and made available online to enable the students to revise and study the contents on their own.

Admission requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science
  • Bachelor’s degree in closely related discipline
  • Good GPA in the Bachelor´s degree
  • Good English language proficiency (native speaker, or TOEFL test with a score of at least 580 paper-based, 237 computer-based or 92-93 internet-based)
  • Basic knowledge of German, at least B1 level
  • GRE-general test or equivalent proof showing the candidate's ability for verbal reasoning, critical thinking, and analytical writing skills may be required in some cases.
