Course details

This course focuses on the technical and human skills to develop software systems. Modules look at the interface, coding, and storage of data with a focus on the web, as well as the hardware and network resources and services needed to support the software systems. The key to all of this is the understanding of existing systems, and planning of new or updated systems.

Areas of study

During the course you will develop the theoretical knowledge and practical skills required to develop internet systems architecture. Year 1 covers key areas of computing and you will complete a work-related project. Subject areas span a range of computing competencies working with industry-standard applications, tools and standards. Year 2 builds on the first year and includes a research-based individual project. The individual project provides the opportunity to combine knowledge and technologies from the modules of both years.

Career and progression opportunities

Graduates will be well equipped with the key skills that employers are looking for. The combination of university study with work-based skills acquired on this course gives you the edge when it comes to finding a job or getting more out of the one you already have. Previous students are working for organisations like the BBC and the Bank of America.
