This Foundation Degree, offered in partnership with both New College, Swindon and Gloucestershire College, is intended for those with a strong interest in pursuing a career in a computing or related field. It provides the opportunity for individuals from a wide range of backgrounds to achieve their full academic potential through Higher Education study in a local College environment. Successful completion of the course will allow progression onto the BSc(Hons) Computing degree here at UWE.
A key feature of this course is the support that it receives from local and regional employers. Much of your learning will focus around live project briefs, real case studies and work-related scenarios. Their aim is to provide you with the relevant professional skills and knowledge employers tell them they need so that you can embark on your future career in this industry with confidence. No prior knowledge of programming is needed to undertake this degree.
You will leave this degree with a set of skills and competencies designed to make you very attractive to potential future employers. You could progress into a career in IT support, software development, web design, database development and management, media development or similar. You may also choose to progress directly into the final year of the BSc(Hons) Computing degree here at UWE.
