Course details

Building surveyors are key professionals in the construction and property industries, being involved in the development, management, conservation, refurbishment and rehabilitation of all types of property.

Course structure

This course provides a technical and practical education, progressively expanding your knowledge and abilities, while encouraging independent thinking and competence.

Students develop the skills to resolve technical, financial, legal and managerial issues associated with the property industry, the environment and the economy as a whole. Communication and presentational skills are cultivated as an integral part of the course.

Career and progression opportunities

Graduates are equipped with a sound knowledge of materials, construction, technology, surveying and investigative techniques, building pathology, and management skills appropriate to careers in surveying, management, contracting, design, development and planning.

Entry requirements

• A-levels: BBB (typically translates to 300 points in the UCAS tariff). Applicants with only 2 full A-levels or a double award will be considered on an individual basis.
• ND/C (Level 3): MMM.
• International Baccalaureate: 28 points.
• QAA-approved access course: not acceptable.
• GCSE (minimum grade C): at least 3 subjects including English language, mathematics and a science.
• Foundation degree/HND/HNC direct to year 2 for suitable applicants.
• For non-native speakers of English: IELTS 6.0 overall, 6.0 in writing.
