Creativity and entrepreneurship are leading themes in the new economy as well as in the world of the arts. Students acquire a solid background in cultural economics, learn about the latest theoretical developments in the economics of art markets, cultural organisations, creative industries, marketing of cultural goods, creativity and cultural entrepreneurship.The program equips you with the knowledge and understanding that is required for working in the cultural world of tomorrow.
The Master’s specialisation CE&CE emphasises the economic aspects of art and culture, and explores the world of cultural entrepreneurship. You will discover that the cultural sector has its own dynamic. You will become familiar with economic instruments used by policymakers and market participants, and become aware of the limits of such tools. You will learn about the fascinating, time-old interplay between art, culture and commerce, which features prominently in the academic debate. The world of art and the creative and cultural industry is teeming with small, exciting companies with a unique character.
This programme is open for students holding a Bachelor's degree in Cultural Studies from Erasmus University. Also students who have an university Bachelor's degree that fulfills the requirement of a combination of social science and the arts, may apply. A basic knowledge of economics and proven ability in English is essential (TOEFL 600/250/100 or IELTS 7.0).
