From the late Middle Ages to the present, Dutch artists have figured prominently in some of the most significant moments of European art history. This Master's programme is offered jointly by Kunstgeschiedenis (Art History) and Algemene Cultuurwetenschappen (Cultural Studies).
The Master's programme in Dutch Art provides a solid foundation for students wishing to pursue an academic career or who are interested in working in museums, education, journalism or editing.
Successful completion of the programme should be seen as an intermediate step in the student's academic career. Graduates planning to pursue a PhD degree may wish to consider applying to the Research Master's programme in Art History, in which they can include some elements of the Master's programme in Dutch Art.
Educational requirements: A Bachelor's degree or equivalent in the fields of history of art, or cultural studies with at least half a year's worth of courses in art history.
Language requirements: IELTS (minimum score: overall band: 6.5, listening: 6.0, reading: 6.0, writing: 6.0, speaking: 6.0), CAE, minimum score A; CPE, minimum score B.
