The Bachelor of Arts in German-French Studies is an international course with joint degrees. It arose from the cooperation between the University of Paris-Sorbonne (Paris IV) and the University of Bonn. The course is focused on philological and cultural knowledge about France and Germany and leads to a specific ability in the mediation of German and French culture. The students follow a curriculum in the Department of Romance Studies as well as in the Department of German Studies. This curriculum includes lectures and courses in literature and (inter)cultural studies, in linguistics, in comparative and in regional studies as well as language courses. Besides this, it includes an practical training period.
The completion of the course leads to the following qualifications:
Students will be prepared for a career either in academia or in national or international institutions. They will have both theoretically and practically learned to meet the various demands of a range of jobs: public service, (inter)cultural management, media etc.
