The programme enables students to develop an integrated perspective on an important region of the world, gaining knowledge of and learning to apply inputs from various disciplines. It incorporates elements of the disciplines listed above, as well as elements of thematic specialisations in the fields of anthropology, development studies, social geography, media and culture, international relations, and others.
Graduates can be assured of an academic education with a special focus on the analysis of complex societal and cultural issues in relation to Latin America or the Caribbean.
There is growing need for professionals - both within the academic world and beyond - who have the capacity to integrate elements from various disciplines in the analysis of complex issues related to development, regional and cultural studies. The application of such knowledge is important for academic institutions, cultural organisations, governmental agencies and NGOs.
Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent academic qualification in the humanities or social sciences, with a demonstrable focus on Latin America or the Caribbean, including research, study or practical experience in this region or one of its languages.

All other applicants, including applicants who hold a Dutch HBO diploma (diploma of higher professional education), must provide proof of proficiency in English. To do so, you are required to take one of the following English language tests:
