This Master's programme offers students the unique opportunity to study under the supervision of leading experts from the Institute for the Study of Education and Human Development (ISED).
The Development and Socialisation in Childhood and Adolescence programme is offered by staff of the Utrecht University Department of Education, Department of Developmental Psychology, Department of General Social Sciences and Department of Methodology & Statistics of the Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences.
The primary aim of the Development and Socialisation in Childhood and Adolescence Master's programme is to prepare candidates for an academic career – PhD programme – in the field of research in child and adolescent studies and developmental psychology.
Programme graduates are highly trained researchers and are also well qualified for a position as a policy officer in behavioural sciences in companies and governmental organisations. Until now about 70% of DaSCA graduates obtained a PhD position within 4 months of graduation, whereas the the other graduates obtained research jobs outside university.
Applicants must hold an academic bachelor’s degree in Social or Behavioural Sciences (for instance Interdisciplinary Social Science, Sociology, Cultural Anthropology, Pedagogy, or Psychology).
Students who meet the admission requirements and have a GPA of 3.3 (or the Dutch equivalent of 7.5) or higher will be accepted. Students with a GPA between 3.0 and 3.3 (Dutch equivalent: 7 or better) may be eligible and will have a chance of being selected if their previous studies fit well with the Development and Socialisation in Childhood and Adolesence programme, according to the programme’s admissions committee.
