Educational requirements: BSc in biological or earth sciences or related fields.
Language requirements: TOEFL (minimum score: 580); IELTS (minimum score: 6.5)
Other requirements: Grade Point Average of at least 70%; good skills in mathematics and/or statistics; basic computer skills.
Objectives: Fundamental to the Earth System Science approach is the need to emphasize relevant interactions between biological, chemical, physical and socio-economic processes that extend across spatial scales ranging from microns to the size of the earth, over time scales ranging from milliseconds to billions of years and organizational scales ranging from individuals to nations.
Subjects: Within the common part (36 credits) of the MEA curriculum (120 credits) you will get a comprehensive overview of the major geo physical and biogeochemical processes and interactions that regulate the earth system. Advanced courses (free choice of 24 credits), thesis work (36 credits) and internship (24 credits) allow you to explore certain topics in depth.
Modes of instruction: Lectures, practical work, case work, group work, computer models, excursions, self study, thesis research.
