About the programme

The two-year Master’s degree programme in Energy and Environmental Sciences is connected to the Energy and Sustainability Research Institute Groningen (ESRIG). It has two specializations: System studies on Energy and Environment, and Experimental studies of Energy and Climate.

The first specialization has a strong design-orientated, systemsapproach character based in natural sciences. This specialization is linked to the ESRIG Centre for Energy and Environmental Studies (IVEM). The second specialization is linked to the ESRIG Centre for Isotope Research (CIO) with important contributions from other groups within ESRIG with an experimental, energy-related research programme.

Both paths include a collective part of three compulsory modules and a specialist part. In addition, the programmes include an optional part and two research projects.
