The course comprises the following compulsory modules:

  • Analytical chemistry
  • Applied microbiology
  • Biofouling/biocorrosion
  • Chemometrics
  • Environmental microbiology
  • Hygiene
  • Water chemistry

Within these modules, two laboratory courses in environmental microbiology and analytical chemistry are included. An additional research-oriented practical course in the third term can be chosen either in these or related subjects. Additional optional courses can be chosen from a variety of water-related topics to set a more individual study focus.

Currently, these include:

  • Ecology
  • Electrochemistry and electrochemical analysis
  • Environmental chemistry (with options air, soil/waste and pollutants)
  • Hydrochemical system modelling
  • Membrane technology
  • Quality and project management
  • Stable isotope analysis
  • Technical engineering water
  • Waste water treatment

A special lecture series offered in the summer term is Water - it aims at creating an understanding of the important role of water in society and the necessity for transdisciplinary solutions for water-related problems. It involves lecturers with diverse backgrounds from within and outside UDE.
