Course overview
These are both subjects requiring rigorous analytical thought, exploring fundamental questions about human welfare and social justice.
There are four units from each subject every year, or you can substitute one unit from a third subject. You will generally divide your time equally between these two subjects and in your final year you will have the opportunity to undertake a supervised economics project on a topic of your choosing.
- The mixture of compulsory and optional units will enable you to plan a programme which reflects your own interests and ambitions
- You can study a wide range of economics courses covering the theoretical, applied and empirical aspects of the subject
- You will study in depth the work of some of the great philosophers, from Plato to Wittgenstein and beyond, who have addressed a wide range of issues. The course content is exceptionally broad and includes most of the serious areas of philosophy in the Western tradition
- During your degree you will be given ample opportunity to develop your own thoughts on philosophical subjects and engage in philosophical debate
