Research programmes in Economics are co-ordinated via the six groups outlined above. The groups provide funded research, conferences, and a focal point for MPhil/PhD students in the area. Students are provided with the facilities necessary for research, including a study room and dedicated cluster of micro-computers, backed by support on-site from a member of the University's Computer Support Unit. All students follow a systematic training and professional development programme designed to complement their own research activities. Students also take a course unit entitled Research Design for Economists which aims to train research students in the various techniques directly relevant for researchers in economics.
