The Doctorate in Educational Psychology is intended for practicing Educational Psychologists who wish to remain in the profession and who wish to enhance their research skills and professional practice.
This programme incorporates aspects of qualitative and quantitative methods to link research to practice. There is a mixture of monthly seminars, workshops, individual supervision and research training. Students are encouraged to pursue areas of personal research interest that can benefit the profession and the Local Education Authority in which they work. This means that the work covered explores current practice and how this links to theory and research. In the past, themes have included: cognitive behavioural psychology; group work approaches; work with parents; techniques to explore emotional and physical abuse in children; dyslexia; autism and many others.
Academic entry qualification overview: A good honours degree in Psychology plus a Masters degree in Educational Psychology and professional experience as an Education Psychologist.
English language: Students whose first language is not English require IELTS 7.0 or TOEFL 600 paper based or 250 computer based.
