Course details
The Playwork foundation degree is aimed at playworkers and play and childcare development workers wishing to gain a professional qualification and extend their practice. It has been developed in partnership with Playwork South East and SkillsActive, which ensures that the syllabus is directly relevant to your work.
Career and progression opportunities
Successful graduates are professionally qualified as play and childcare development workers. The course can also be the start of a convenient part-time route to a full honours degree, after which you may be eligible to apply for further professional recognition, for example Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or Early Years Professional Status (EYPS).
Entry requirements
- A-levels: not suitable.
- QAA-approved access course: acceptable.
- GCSE (minimum grade C): At least English language and mathematics, or equivalent.
- For non-native speakers of English: IELTS 6.0 overall, 6.0 in writing.
- Other: Applicants are normally expected to meet the following requirements: - 12 months experience working with children in play and related settings - currently employed (or a volunteer) in a playwork or a related setting for a minimum of three hours per week - completion of Level 3 playwork training.
