Health and Social Care Education provides a flexible and relevant route to a postgraduate teaching qualification for those working in the health and social care professions. The course reflects the need to prepare teachers in a multi-professional context, with increased shared learning, to enable them to teach and to facilitate teamwork in that environment.
Graduates are prepared for teaching in both practice and in higher education. Students frequently change their roles during the course, taking on posts with an increased responsibility for education and many take on roles in higher education.
For non-native speakers of English: 6.5 overall and 6 in writing.
Degree and/or experience: First degree in health-related subject/education. Exceptionally, other candidates who can demonstrate evidence of being able to work at postgraduate level will be considered. At least two years post-qualification professional experience. Some experience in teaching and assessment of health professions required (involving 15 hours of educational activity a week). All students must demonstrate support from their employers, in order to complete the teaching practice element of the course.
