Course description

This is a practical, professional and academic course in consultancy for experienced headteachers, LEA advisers and independent consultants. The course aims to provide opportunities for students to gain the high level process consultancy skills needed to work effectively with educational institutions, enhance knowledge and understanding of the concepts, techniques and methods to develop research and practice in the field, and to promote self-understanding and personal development as a consultant.

The course is delivered in 2 day blocks and can be delivered to teams of LEA advisers and headteachers in their home base in the North West of England. Successful students on the Postgraduate Certificate can go on to complete a Masters in Process Consultancy. This involves further taught units and a dissertation. Typically, the course is undertaken by headteachers who are looking to extend their role outside of their schools or who are considering a new career as a consultant. LEA advisers are now required to undertake professional development linked to the National Standards for School Improvement Personnel. This course addresses all the competencies within this national framework.
