This research-led MSc incorporates traditional and state-of-the-art aspects of AI and machine learning, through a contemporary approach which covers the fundamental aspects of traditional symbolic and sub-symbolic aspects. The programme is based jointly in the ISIS and IAM groups, and will prepare you for a range of interdisciplinary careers.
Programme structure
Semester 1: Adaptive modelling of complex data; Complexity science 1; Evolution of complexity; Foundations of artificial intelligence; Intelligent algorithms; Research methods in computing; Speech processing.
Semester 2: Biologically inspired robotics; Computational neurobiology; Computer vision; Intelligent agents; Knowledge technologies; Machine learning; Semantic Web technologies.
Semester 3: 3-month, independent, individual research project, culminating in a dissertation
Entry requirements: Upper second-class honours degree or equivalent in an appropriate discipline (e.g. mathematics, physics, engineering, computer science); additional entry requirements for MSc Web Technology are noted under the Programme structure for this degree.
