Course overview
Electronics and electronic systems have become the enabling technology of the material world with devices becoming smaller, faster and cheaper. This has brought us mobile phones, MP3 players, sat-nav and hand-helds. Increasingly, electronics is playing a part in medicine and the biological sciences. As devices become smaller they can be implanted in people to monitor heart conditions and deliver insulin and in the future may be used to seek out and destroy viruses.
Electronics and electronic systems have become the enabling technology of the material world, with devices becoming smaller, faster and cheaper.
This course aims to produce engineers who can tackle the challenge of designing modern power systems for tomorrow’s world. Students are eligible for funding under the Power Academy Scheme.
Career opportunities
Recent graduates have pursued careers in electronics-related and information technology industries (approximately 30 and 20 per cent respectively). About 10 per cent of our graduates go on to study a higher degree at the University.
