This programme is designed for students who aim to become managers in industrial or commercial organisations. It offers a powerful, multidisciplinary blend of business skills and engineering knowledge, with the option of studying or working abroad. The diversity of this programme means that there is a good balance between the time spent studying technical and business topics. So, if you have a broad educational background you will find that this programme suits you well.
First year
In your first year, you study fundamental engineering science, and modules on design and mathematical modelling. In addition, you follow two modules in the Business School that continue throughout your degree as the Business Management Minor.
Subsequent years
In the subsequent years you pursue four integrated themes of study that progressively develop your abilities. These are:
Design and ergonomics
Uniquely, you have the opportunity to explore the total design process. Working in a small team, you identify a market need for your own product and pursue it through specification, detail design and ultimately to the planning of the production process.
Career opportunities
With its balanced mix of engineering and industrially orientated economics, this unique programme produces graduates who can progress to the highest positions in industrial and commercial management. Some graduates choose to remain within mainstream engineering, while many others take up careers in management, marketing, accounting, consultancy or finance.
