The modules taught in the first three semester fall into two categories:
The biomedical modules comprise genomics, proteomics, chemistry with bio-molecules, molecular tissue engineering and biomaterials. The technological modules include bioinformatics, bio-nanotechnology, biophysics and cellular machines.
Besides the lectures, there is a seminar series in which students and leading researchers present their current, state-of-the-art research results relevant to the course. Furthermore, there is a module on public and economic aspects of bioengineering which discusses ethical and jurisdictional issues, patenting, and how to found and lead biotechnological companies.
After covering these modules the students devote the last of the four semester to a thesis.
