The 16th Admissions Conference is an interactive three-days conference providing advice and guidance to those involved in heigher education admissions, requitment and marketing.
The conference will provide a combination of workshops, discussion groups and keynote presentations, as well as the more formal AGM and Operational Business sessions. This provides the opportunity for you to liaise and network with other member institutions as well as from UCAS.
On the first day, keynote presentations will be delivered by Sir Alan Langlands, Chief Executive, HEFCE, who will cover the recent increases in applicants, the cap on places, the uncertainty surrounding the increase in fees and his longer term view of funding for the sector. In addition, Professor Steve Smith, Vice Chancellor of the University of Exeter and President of Universities UK will address the conference on ‘challenges for the future'.
Luke Mckend, Head of Education & Careers at Google, will address the conference on how modern technology and social media are being used and impact upon admissions to HE.
On Wednesday 31 March, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the UCAS Annual General Meeting and take part in the UCAS Business Sessions where key operational and policy-based issues shaping the continuing development of the admissions service will be discussed.
There will also be the usual 'marketplace' providing an opportunity for you to interact with companies providing products and services that complement your work, including industry suppliers, government agencies and awarding bodies.
The conference provides an excellent opportunity for networking, allowing delegates to meet friends and colleagues. And on Tuesday evening, they'll again be staging the popular annual quiz.
Finally, there will be the annual gala dinner on the evening of 31 March. After dinner speaker this year is Dame Tanni Grey Thompson, who will provide the conference with a inspiring presentation on her life, experiences and her educational links.
