About the programme

Students of the Master of Science programme Hydrology and Water Quality are studying the occurrence of water, the water flow, water management and water quality, including the aquatic ecology. This within the context of water quantity management en water quality management in relation to agriculture, nature and environment. The physical, mathematical, chemical and/or biological aspects of the hydrological cycle are studied, and also the water quality.

Future Career

The MSc Hydrology and Water Quality is intended for students who seek a career as an academic professional or as a scientist in this field. Graduates find jobs as hydrologist, water manager (quantity and quality), aquatic ecologist, consultant, or positions in basic and applied research. The programme is not region-specific and therefore obtained knowledge and skills can be applied in all climate regions, including dry environments.

Admission requirments

Only if you completed the Bachelor programme Soil, Water, Atmosphere at Wageningen University, you are admitted unconditionally for the Master programme Hydrology and Water Quality. Of course, it is also possible to be admitted with a different degree.

General admission requirements

Students who wish to enrol in a MSc program at Wageningen University must have:

  1. A BSc degree (or equivalent) in a field of science relevant to your selected programme
  2. A Grade Point Average (GPA) for this BSc of at least 70% of the maximum grade
  3. Fluency in English, both written and spoken
  4. Good skills in mathematics and/or statistics
  5. Basic computer skills
