Course details

Environmental Geology MSc is designed for those wishing to enhance professional qualifications, who may be looking for a change in career emphasis or simply enjoy the challenge of applied geology.

You will take a holistic approach to geology applied to construction, hydrogeology and the environment. Specialist and research skills in these areas are developed and the place of geology in their environment and the community is emphasised through modules in professional practice, geohazards, environmental geology and hydrogeology.

Career and progression opportunities

Graduates of this MSc have found employment in the engineering and site investigation industry, including major consultancies and contractors such as Black and Veatch, Soil Mechanics and Capita Symmonds, in the water industry, in particular with Southern Water, and in the environmental sector.

Entry requirements

  • For non-native speakers of English: IELTS 6.5 overall and 6.0 in writing.
  • Degree and/or experience: minimum of lower second class in a relevant undergraduate degree in geology, civil engineering or a related subject area and/or relevant industrial experience.
