The programme is rooted in top class research groups, which together cover a wide range of disciplines within Physical Geography. Research is concerned with societal problems like the vulnerability of society for climate change and natural hazards and the impact of human activity on the physical environment.
In addition, a general MSc in Physical Geography can be drawn up to meet the student’s interests. The themes represent decades of knowledge related to coastal and river sciences, hydrology, land degradation in mountainous regions and quaternary geology. In addition, the programme also has a strong international profile based on its pioneering work and international expertise in the field of environmental modelling and Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and the development and application of geostatistics.
Graduates of the Physical Geography Master’s programme are well qualified for positions in research (academia, research institutes or industry) and in the public or private sectors (as a specialist in coastal and river management, land degradation and land planning, civil engineering, archaeology, water management and water pollution).
