The MSc course in Investigative Ophthalmology and Vision Sciences brings together the research expertise in vision from the School of Medicine, the Faculty of Life Sciences and Manchester Royal Eye Hospital . It provides students with a firm grounding in the knowledge needed to pursue a higher degree and to conduct high quality research in ophthalmology, optometry or vision sciences. It also gives an opportunity for vision-related professionals to advance their knowledge of the scientific foundations of ophthalmology and vision sciences.

It is considered suitable for those Individuals who are considering undertaking a research degree in the vision sciences; those interested in conducting research as part of their clinical training; those considering a career in the hospital eye service or those interested in professional development.
Academic entry qualification overview: An honours degree (minimum 2:1), or its overseas equivalent, in one of the following subjects: Medicine (with postgraduate experience in ophthalmology), Optometry, Orthoptics, Medical Sciences or other related subjects.
English language: For MSc applicants whose first language is not English, an IELTS score of 6.5, TOEFL 577 (paper based), TOEFL 233 (computer based) or TOEFL 90 (internet based) is required as a minimum.
