The Degree of Doctor of Medicine (MD) is a research degree undertaken by clinical graduates. The MD is a higher doctorate level research degree proving competence in medicine, which implies a level of competence in research, and demonstrates a high level of continual professional attainment in the medical field.
When applying for an MD you choose a research topic in conjunction with your supervisor and spend the duration researching your topic. You are assessed on your thesis, which you will produce in the final stages of your research.
Successful completion of the MD provides the foundation for further career progression within the medical field.
Academic entry qualification overview:
Applicants for admission must hold an MBChB degree. Applicants from overseas who do not hold a primary medical degree from a university in the UK or Ireland, should enquire as to whether their medical qualification would be acceptable to the University.
English language:
Students whose first language is not English require a minimum of IELTS 6.5 or TOEFL 575 paper-based, 230 computer-based or 90 and above internet-based.
