Education and training in medicine has undergone significant reform in the past decade, creating new challenges and opportunities for those with educational roles and responsibilities. Many clinicians are involved with various aspects of medical education but few have had the opportunity for professional development in teaching.
This programme has been designed for busy people, to enable them to learn in the context of their every day activities. A prerequisite is an interest in improving your own practice in medical education. The programme offers flexibility and interim awards (PG Certificate and PG Diploma).
Manchester is one of the leading centres in medical education and has a national and international reputation for high quality research in the field.
The programme team are established education, medical and healthcare educators with experience spanning undergraduate and postgraduate medical education and training. The programme Directors are Dr Don Bradley and Dr Leena Patel.

Academic entry qualification overview:
Applicants should normally possess a degree or equivalent qualification in a biological/medical discipline or in a related field of study from a recognised university. They must have a strong interest in medical education and be actively involved in teaching medical students. Specific details about these should be provided in their application letter.
Applicants must select the PGCert, PGDip or MSc when applying. Should students subsequently wish to transfer across from PGCert to PGDip or from PGDip to MSc once they have started the course, this can be accommodated subject to satisfactory academic progress.
