In the rapidly changing society, orientation towards the past plays a significant role. In the areas of science, technology, media, socio-political relations and ideology, developments are so tempestuous that modern humans are threatened with alienation from society.
Developed for ambitious students, the Master’s in the History of Society offers two fields of specialisation, which facilitate a multidisciplinary exploration of the spatial-temporal aspects of this field of study. The Dutch language specialisation Geschiedenis van Nederland in een Mondiale Context (History of the Netherlands in a Global Context) focuses on the impact of globalisation on the Netherlands and that of the Netherlands on the world, while the English language specialisation Global History & International Relations highlights the international and global aspects of this discipline.
The Master's degree course affords opportunities for fulfilling a wide range of positions. Besides policy-making jobs in government, business, the media or the educational sector and entry to post-graduate teacher training or to FHA post-initial higher education, it also offers an opportunity for further scientific research.
