Research degrees are best planned by individual discussion. In line with the AHRC’s '1+3' model for research degrees, postgraduates are expected to register initially for an MPhil(B) degree. This combines a 20,000-word thesis on a specific research topic with taught courses. You may register for an MPhil research degree, which is examined by thesis alone. The thesis can be a maximum of 40,000 words.
