Course details
Tourism today continues to be one of the worlds most exciting and developing industries. Ever changing and dynamic, tourism comprises of many sectors and opportunities both at a local and global level. These include destination development and marketing, the management of tourism attractions, cultural heritage and the examination of social tourism.
The study of contemporary issues such as climate change, sustainability, ethics and corporate social responsibility ensure that this industry constantly seeks well informed educated young professionals to fulfill vital roles in this complex ever-changing industry.
Career and progression opportunities
Currently 95 percent of their graduates are employed within six months of graduation in specialist and junior management positions. Recent graduates have taken up a wide range of careers in the UK and overseas in areas such as tourism development, international tourism consultancy, sales and marketing, human resources, conference and events, business travel and destination marketing.
Entry requirements
- A-levels: BBC (typically translates to 280 points in the UCAS tariff). Applicants with only 2 full A-levels or a double award will be considered on an individual basis.
- International Baccalaureate: 28 points.
- QAA-approved access course: acceptable; subject-specific units.
- GCSE (minimum grade C): at least 3 subjects including English language and mathematics.
- Foundation degree/HND/HNC: possible transfer to years 2 or 3. Check with the course team for specific requirements.
- For non-native speakers of English: IELTS 6.0 overall, 6.0 in writing, or equivalent.
