Introduction

To develop students as human resource practitioners and advisers on the basis of their understanding and appreciation of:

  • the theory and practice of organisations and human resource management;
  • the nature of management consultancy skills, analytic and diagnostic techniques;
  • the integrated nature of strategic, financial, economic and information environments within which the human resource practitioner operates; and
  • how the human resource specialist deploys knowledge-based analytical and problem solving skills and competences at both operational and strategic levels.

The course is aimed principally at providing a Masters level qualification for the following markets:

  • employees with significant human resource responsibilities wishing to develop their practical and theoretical knowledge in the human resource area; and
  • non-personnel jobholders who seek to gain a specialism within the human resource area, underpinned by rigorous conceptual knowledge capable of deployment in a vocationally useful way; and/or those who seek to be well-placed for HRM posts in management training and development, strategic management and employee relations.

Entry Requirements

  • You should normally hold a first degree from a recognised instituion (minimum Lower Second), or overseas equivalent, in a related field. For holders of non-UK degrees please consult the International Qualifications page to check acceptability. Candidates with extensive experience who do not possess a first degree can also be considered.
  • Evidence of good spoken and written English skills is required where English is not your first language.
