Digital communication systems are ubiquitous in the modern world and comprise some of the most important technologies 21st-century society depends on, for example the internet and mobile communications. This MSc covers the central technologies required for the understanding, analysis and implementation of communication systems and provides both the requisite theory and practical experience to permit you to contribute professionally in the subject area.
The aim of this programme is to develop academic and professional excellence both for newly qualified and practising engineers who wish to extend their knowledge and skills in the field of modern digital communications.
UK entrance requirements
A first- or second-class undergraduate honours degree in engineering, mathematics or an applied science. The undergraduate honours degree should normally be in the fields of electronics, communications or computing.
Overseas entrance requirements
Sussex receives applications from all over the world and is therefore very experienced in assessing the qualifications offered by students from outside the UK.

English language requirements
IELTS 6.0, with not less than 6.0 in each section. Internet TOEFL with 80 overall including 22 in Speaking and 24 in Writing. For more information, refer to English language requirements .
